Sweet Side of The Couve
Some mornings require a bit of extravagance, like pastry from a great bakery. One of my first missions in Vancouver, is to seek out the good sweet stuff...tough job but I'm up to the task! So far, my favorite destination is Bleu Door Bakery on Main Street, in the Uptown Village neighborhood.
Owner Bonnie Brasure has expanded the original walk-up business to include a sit-down cafe serving breakfast, brunch and lunch. Coffee comes from 9 Bar Espresso.
The croissants are excellent, delicate and flakey, and the pain au chocolat comes with a sprinkling of cocoa powder on top. Cookies, cakes, tarts, breads, so many pastries to try, oh my.
